How Dusty Helps:

4th and 5th  Grade

Academic Skills: Concentration is on building self-confidence as a learner including developing executive function skills such as focus, persistence, ability to deal with frustration and impulse control.

Math: Dusty works with late elementary students to develop understanding of the underlying concepts ofthe four operations of math; fractions; integer operations; decimal operations; and percentages.  Helping students learn how to attack and solve  ‘dreaded’ word problems gives Dusty particular satisfaction. His goal is to help students gain confidence in their ability to both understand math conceptually in addition to performing well in class.

Middle School Students

There is a wide range of development between the beginning and end of middle school.  Sixth graders often need support in transitioning to a multi- teacher/multi-room environment.  Dusty provides transition support that focuses on organization, time management, habit formation and accountability.  He continues to provide academic support in math, science and social studies.

High School Students

Dusty works with 9th graders to help them transition to the increased demands of high school.  He mentors them to develop effective study skills and habits, and conducts weekly performance/accountability reviews.

Dusty provides academic support for freshmen in the following subjects:  Algebra I, Geometry, Integrated (General) Science and Geo-History.
